Aziz Ahmad is the CEO and President of UTC Associates, Inc., a leading systems and network integration company. Mr. Ahmad's career in the telecommunications and information technology industry spans nearly two decades. During that time, he progressed steadily upwards in the ranks of management and business leadership positions, in some of the largest and technically advanced companies in the United States. Mr. Ahmad brings his vast experience to UTC Associates, Inc. headquartered on Wall Street in New York City, of which he is a co-founder.
An accomplished leader and network architect, Aziz was the lead architect of AT&T’s VoIP networks. Mr. Ahmad managed the network design and development efforts for AT&T and specialized in areas of multi-services broadband technology and packetized voice. Mr. Ahmad directed the AT&T team in the NGI (Next Generation Internet) Consortium, which was created to research, develop, and demonstrate the next generation broadband access network based on IP and Multi-Wavelength optical technology. His work required the management and coordination of teams of several hundred technical, academic and management personnel spread across the United States.
He has extensive experience in developing and rolling out new services from concept to revenue generation stage. Aziz also served as Director of Service Provider Solutions at Thrupoint and was responsible for developing and introducing a broad range of IT and telecommunication solutions for the service provider market.
Mr. Ahmad's travels and international business experiences, particularly in Bangladesh, inspired him to found US Bangladesh Partners, a business endeavor focused on developing business opportunities for US, Canadian, Pacific Rim and global companies, seeking to invest in, source from, do business with, manufacture in, joint venture or partner in Bangladesh. In support of this endeavor, US Bangladesh Partners and UTC Associates, Inc. have brought together their networks of chambers of commerce, corporate leaders, the academic and business communities to introduce and connect them to the opportunities available in Bangladesh, including organizing and co-hosting the 2009 Bangladesh Investment Summit in NYC, at which the Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina presided, the 2010 Power and Energy Investment Road Show, and the US Bangladesh Technology Summit in 2010.
Mr. Ahmad serves as a board member of numerous technology companies in the USA and Bangladesh. He founded Vonair, Inc. (www.vonair.com), a leading multimedia based applications provider, including VoIP client based, location-based applications, presence, instant messaging, and mobile client applications. He is very proud to serve as a Managing Director of Grameen Solutions (www.grameensolutions.com), Grameen Bitek in Bangladesh where Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus serves as the Chairman of the Board.
Mr. Ahmad is a recognized business leader who has played a prominent role in the business and corporate community. Mr. Ahmad is Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of the US Pan-Asian American Chamber of Commerce, North East Region (USPAACC), a national, non-profit organization representing all Asian Americans and Asian American-related groups in business, sciences, the arts, sports, and education, public and community services. In 2008, Mr. Ahmad served as Program Co-chair of the USPAACC National Conference, chaired by PepsiCo Chairman and CEO Indra Nooyi. The conference was attended by hundreds of the nation’s top corporate leadership and included sponsors such as Wells Fargo, Pepsico, American Express, Wal-mart, Coca-Cola, Dell, Morgan Stanley, Pfizer, Sprint and the Marriott among others.
Mr. Ahmad is the board member of Engineering Leadership Council at the Grove School of Engineering at CCNY.
Mr. Ahmad also advisory board member of The High School for Enterprise, Business, and Technology of NYC department of Education located at 850 Grand Street in Brooklyn.
Mr. Ahmad serves on the New Jersey Technology Council, and led the Council’s initiative to educate and inform the United States Congress on Capitol Hill about support needed in order for entrepreneurs developing new technologies to grow.
Aziz is the recipient of the City University of New York’s First Asian American Distinguished Alumni Award. The award was bestowed on him at a dinner attended by over 400, in recognition of his significant business success and many philanthropic endeavors.
In 2010, Aziz was inducted into the Wall of Honor at the Grove School of Engineering, City College, City University of New York his alma mater. The Grove School was endowed by Andrew Grove, the founder of Intel, who is also a City College alumnus. In 2010, A leading community leader and benefactor, Mr. Ahmad has established the Leadership Lectures Series at the CCNY, School of Engineering, where fortune 500 corporate leaders are invited to offer keynote speeches.
He holds B.E. and M.E. degrees in Electrical Engineering from The City College of New York (CUNY). During the past several years, he has served as an adjunct professor at City Technical College (CUNY), and he has also taught graduate-level courses at Pace University in converging technologies.
