Intel Chairman Dr. Craig Barrett Launches Intel World Ahead Program in Bangladesh

On 4th September, 2007, Intel Chairman, Dr. Craig Barrett attended the launch ceremony of the Intel World Ahead Program in Bangladesh held at Hotel Sheraton, Dhaka, after signing the agreement with Grameen Solutions.


Dr. Craig Barrett speaks about the World Ahead Program and its initiatives at the launch ceremony. He outlined his vision to make technology more accessible to people of Bangladesh. "By working together, Grameen and Intel can help Bangladesh make rapid progress in providing its citizens with opportunities for economic and social advancement," said Dr. Craig Barrett.

The World Ahead Program consists 4 major aspects:

  • Accessibility: Providing the foundation for technology usage and ownership
  • Connectivity: Extending broadband Internet access to developing countries
  • Education: Preparing students for success in the global economy through programs, resources, and technology
  • Content: Promoting locally relevant content and services that expand opportunities

"Education is vital in developing a skilled workforce", Dr. Barrett says. Intel plans to launch its education initiatives in Bangladesh with support from Grameen and the Ministry of Education. Under the Education aspect, Intel Teach and Intel Learn program will be included.
