Aziz Ahmad visits Aneesh Chopra, Former CTO, President Barack Obama's Administration
GSL's MD, Mr. Aziz Ahmad visits Mr. Aneesh Chopra, former CTO, US President Barack Obama's administration(White House), in Arlington, Virginia. They had a long and foresighted discussion on how to help the country meet its goals from job creation, to reducing health care costs. The discussion included:
- Tele-medicine for aging population and nurse practitioners taking more functions. Emphasis was on how the nurse practitioners get facilitated by remote assistance from specialists.
- Special concentration was on sharing Electronic Medical Records(EMR) between hospitals.
- They focused on tele-monitoring- devices that can monitor patients remotely to accurately diagnose rather than hit or miss try as done today.
- They hashed out Mobility on how it is being used to diagnose patients outside the office. Significantly discussed latest incident on plane where doctor was able to attach device to iPhone and take EKG reading and diagnose that patient was having heart attack.
Chopra was the first American Federal Chief Technology Officer(CTO) of the United States. His role was to as an Assistant to the President and Associate Director for Technology within the Office of Science & Technology Policy. He advanced President's technology agenda by recommending new ideas and promoting government-wide coordination to help the country meet its goals from job creation, to reducing health care costs, to protecting the homeland. Previously he served as the fourth Secretary of Technology for the Commonwealth of Virginia.
